We send candidates as they show interest. You’ll get a bio for each one. Text them promptly — some candidates are interviewing with multiple families simultaneously.

3

You set up interviews directly with candidates and let us know how it goes. Make a direct offer to the person who’s the best fit for your family.

4

Pay the Finders Fee

After hiring, pay the finders fee — due by the end of the first week your nanny starts. most families pay one week of what they pay their provider they hire however, we have a Pay-what-you-can model with minimums, no maximums to ensure we can support families of various financial circumstances.

You choose what you pay

No more sky-high agency fees. The finders fee is pay-what-you-can within the ranges below — no maximums, just minimums. Due by the end of the first week the nanny starts.

💡

Most families pay one week’s pay — but you choose. Keep in mind that Maddy spends significant time interviewing candidates, checking references, and matching them to your role when deciding what to pay.

6–10 hrs/week $100 – $800
11–15 hrs/week $200 – $1,500

Summer Part-Time $200 – $800

How to get the best results

Tip 1

Reach Out to Candidates Fast

Text candidates as soon as you receive their info. Candidates are typically interviewing with 4–6 other families and are being hired quickly. Be assertive — follow up if you don’t hear back right away.

“Hi, my name is [your name]. Maddy Gawler from PioCare gave me your contact and said you were interested in our role with [# kids] ages [ages] from [times] on [days] in the [neighborhood] neighborhood. We’d love to set up a time to interview. Are you free [suggested times]?”

Tip 2

How to Increase Interest in Your Job

If you’re not getting much response, consider these adjustments:

  • Pay: Most jobs are $25+/hr — increasing pay significantly increases candidate interest.
  • Hours: Career nannies prefer more hours. Consider adding optional household management tasks.
  • Benefits: Families offering PTO, sick days, and paid federal holidays are being hired fastest.Health stipends of $100-300 a month are increasingly becoming more common for families to offer as a benefit.
Tip 4

Pay Expectations

Every nanny sets their own rate based on experience, training, education, and role expectations. The table below is a general frame of reference for what to expect in today’s market.

Experience Level Typical Rate Notes
1–5 years experience $20–$32/hr Most seek $25+; under $25 for recurring roles is increasingly hard to find
5–10 years experience $25–$35/hr Varies based on role complexity and expectations
10+ years experience $30–$45/hr Experienced career nannies, especially those with household management duties

Strong benefits — PTO, guaranteed hours, paid holidays — can be just as important as pay and may help attract great candidates even at the lower end of a range.

Tip 5

Gas Reimbursement

Gas reimbursement is expected at the federal IRS rate for any job requiring driving of the nanny’s own car. Check current IRS rates here.

Tip 6

Guaranteed Hours

Most nannies require guaranteed hours — meaning they need to earn a set minimum weekly wage from you regardless of schedule changes. Discuss and agree on this amount upfront before the role begins.

Tip 7

Paid Time Off, Holidays & Sick Days

For roles 10+ hrs/week, we recommend PTO, sick days, and paid federal holidays. We suggest:

  • 5–10 PTO days per year
  • Federal holidays paid
  • 6 sick days annually (every state has different laws, in Colorado you are legally expected to offer 1hr per 30hr worked for sick days)

This is increasingly standard — especially since COVID, flu season, and whooping cough outbreaks.

Tip 8

Payment Methods

Some nannies prefer formal payroll; others prefer Venmo or check. State your preferred payment method clearly in your job description so we can match you with someone compatible from the start.

Tip 9

Vetting & Background Checks

We interview all candidates and check references before sending them to you. Learn more about our vetting process. We have two recommended vendors for background checks if you’d like to conduct one upon hire. We strongly suggest you also check references yourself.

Tip 10

Keep Maddy Updated

You’ll receive auto check-in emails every 6+ days. Please respond and keep Maddy in the loop — she typically slows down sending candidates until she hears back on your progress. The more you communicate, the faster your search goes.
